I've been close friends with a guy for almost 10 years. A couple weeks ago we were talking and realized we always had a thing for each other, so we decided to start dating 👍
Problem is, we're about 2000 miles apart. Under normal circumstances we'd schedule a couple visits to see if it could work out. Obviously, we can't right now. So we're in this sort of weird limbo where we're not really a couple, not really dating, but want to be more than friends and I'm kinda clueless on how to proceed 🤷♀️ We've been having Zoom dates a couple times a week and we text a little throughout the day. Is there anything else we could be doing? |
Other than sending photos of your feet, probably just keep on doing what you've been doing. Everyone single is in limbo now. |
| The need to isolate could go on and on for a long time but people need to start living again. If you both really think something might be there I'd say you both commit, for two weeks, to being really good about masking, social distancing, washing your hands etc. etc. If you are both in good health and you do that the risk should be very low. Driving 200 miles is no problem. Hopefully, it will all be worth it. |
2000 (thousand not hundred) miles. I agree with at some point you need to just meet and do your best to isolate before hand. How to meet—don’t know. Fly or drive If one of you can swing the time off. Life can’t be on hold indefinitely. In the mean time, make the effort to really get to know each other. |
This is good advice. My parents live very close to us and are a big and positive presence in my young children's lives. After a few weeks of not seeing them my children were very upset because they are way too young to understand the pandemic and why they could not see their GP's. So we did the two week isolation and now they are back in my kids lives. Every day they take their temperatures and they are very good with social distancing and all that entails. They also have a gadget for reading their pulse and blood oxygen levels. You just have to be careful. |

Can you each drive 1000 mi and meet in the middle? Thought that sounds like a PITA unless you are comfortable flying.

Assuming you are both under 70, not obese, no diabetes and heart issues- just go for it. Do your research to make yourself comfortable and live life.
This is actually a GREAT time to see what might be there because a lot of dating is kind of “on hold” and presumably one or both of you are working remotely- so could work remotely 2000 miles away for visits. |
