crowdsourcing seeing if anyone’s daycare sent out comms regarding opening up |
My daycare opened in Alexandria. They were for essentials and now it's for whoever. |
What are the rules for daycares in VA? In DC and MD, I believe when they do open, they will be limited to 10 people per room, including 2 adults. So it will be dramatically reduced capacity. |
Yep, mine did too. Our essentials were not frontline workers or health workers but rather national security workers so a pretty low risk group. |
It’s the same in VA. Limit of 10 people in one room. 14 day closure if there is a case. |
So are they having to go part day/2 days a week to serve the same number of children? |
Not at ours. The word among parents at our center is that most aren’t sending their kids back when they open. The guidelines in place seem like a very sterile and separated environment, and a lot are still uncomfortable with the high level of spread in northern VA so many are continuing on at home as long as they can. |
The variation is what you can do across jurisdictions makes no sense. Daycares are open in VA at stage 1 but in Maryland they don't open until stage 2? |
There are daycares that have remained open this whole time in VA, even for folks that aren't essential workers. But our pre-k in DC is prepping for split week (some kids probably 2 days/3 days a week) so they can get down to the 10 person max per room. So we get all of the exposure but not full time care. Not criticizing them. |
