Extra cargo equipment for Odyssey?

Anonymous
I know it sounds like a crazy question for a vehicle with lots of cargo space, but we plan to visit parents and would like to bring back their treadmill since they no longer use it. Would also love to take bikes with us, but both of these options are probably biting off more than we can chew. DH thinks he can manage squeezing in the treadmill along with our usual stuff, but even though he is skilled at packing, I'm skeptical.

What do you use and how is it?

Rack on top
Cargo bag on top
Bike rack on back (assume this means difficulty accessing anything in the hatch during the road trip?)

Thanks for the feedback!

We have a Ody also, we've used cargo bag on top (when we had a Subaru Outback), but feel the cargo bag is more for lighter and softer items. We stuffed the bag with beach toys and other smaller items when going to OBX, so don't think the bag will help you much. For the bikes, either rack or rack on back (assuming you've already installed a trailer hitch. If not, a decent trailer hitch is about $125, install is an hour so around $100. A fourth option to consider if you have a hitch already is this:

best of luck
