I'm hoping to go to Ireland this summer, and airfares look pretty steep already. Has anyone heard if they might come down over the next few months or are they only going to go up from here?
Fares are VERY high right now. I'm Irish and these prices are the highest I've seen in years. I think it is party because capacity is down this year--Aer Lingus pulled out of Dulles and cut the frequency of their flights from NYC and Boston. US Airways also pulled their Philadelphia Shannon route so there are a lot less seats. Id guess that the prices will come down a least a bit in the coming months. I know quite a few Irish people around here and nobody is going to pay nearly $1000 for a summer flight.
I work in Paris every summer from mid-June to mid-July, and this summer my husband and yet-to-be-born baby are coming with. Prices are incredible! I haven't found anything direct to Paris from DC for less than $1450! That is outrageous. I've done this for the past 3 summers, and have never paid more than about $900, and sometimes that was from Los Angeles. Work will buy my ticket, but not his. I'm hoping prices go down, but I would love any advice anyone has on timing. Since we will have a lap infant (no lectures about buying an infant seat please), I would really like to get bulkhead seats, so I don't want to wait too long.
the "farecast" on bing says they are headed higher. We have very little flexibility on travel dates so we bit the bullet even at these crazy prices. you might be able to find a cheaper fare to London and then switch airports to get to Ireland.
I haven't checked the fares for this summer, but I've found Brussels to be a good, cheaper alternative to Paris. The train ride to Paris is pretty inexpensive.
