Tyler for older grades 2-5th?

Anyone have direct experience with Tyler that is not PK? We are finally buying a house, and it seems this may be the only in-boundary we can afford with all what we need or want in a house.
My son will be going into second grade, and my daughter would need to try to lottery in next year.

Eeh, I wouldn't. Have you looked in Ward 5? That area has schools no worse than Tyler, plus a ton of charters, so you're sure to get something okay.

If you are serious about this house, put your child on waitlists for all Hill schools right now. And Two Rivers. And maybe also Amidon-Bowen, Thomson, and Seaton if that is convenient. You may have to do a year at Tyler but you'll get something better eventually.

Don’t buy in DC. You will stress about schools for the next decade. Go to Virgina or Maryland. More choices and greater affordability.

Wish I’d done this years ago.

Get an apartment along Conn.
