I thought daycare update was supposed to be announced this week?

Or am I wrong? Does anyone know when, if so?

What is “daycare update?”

The plan for the superintendent of Maryland to announce in regards to when and how daycare will open

I never heard or read that. Where did you see that?

I think it’s in phase 2, and Montgomery County will
lag behind the state given that we are not yet in phase 1.

They announced a big plan, but basically it says there will be some expanded offerings in phase 2 and everything will go back to more or less normal in phase 3.

I‘m incredibly nervous about this whole situation. I’m not sure my daycare center will survive to phase 3 or be able to meet what I’m guessing will be the requirements (e.g., capacity, space between kids, etc.) without drastically increasing the prices.

OP here. They just released part of the plan which can be found here

I was wondering how daycares would play out considering most of the state is reopening. For phase 1, those that must go back to work per the Hogan, as the state reopens, may use the essential daycares. The state will pay until June 7th. On June 8th, all parents will pay for their tuition. Daycares will receive a grant to purchase cleaning supplies.

Yes our daycare said that also. And an insider told me they were planning to open June 1st. I think the thought was MOCO would be in phase 1 already and start phase 2 early June. But since MOCO didn't go into phase one yet I think it threw the daycares off a little so no update yet.

FWIW Our summer camp said we should have an update by the end of the month so I think they are all just waiting on Hogans plans...

Who thought this plan through? A lot of the daycares already open cannot take anymore kids.

Why can't they take anymore kids? 10 kids in each room, not capacity. They can use dividers within large rooms to section areas off as needed.

Agreed. This plan is absolutely ridiculous unless they plan to let the other daycares reopen on or before June 8th.

Last I checked, they weren't even accepting applications for additional daycares to reopen under the essential personnel provisions.

That is incorrect, they did
