Accessability of San Juan Beaches

Anonymous
DH and I are contemplating a babymoon there, but our hotel options (due to using points) would not be on the beach. I read that all the San Juan beaches are open to the public. If we were to taxi there, do they have chaise rentals available to non-hotel guests? I will be far enough along that I really can't do the lay on a towel thing. TIA.

There are usually lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent at Isla Verde beach and I've also seen them in Condado beach, but I can't be certain that they're always available. You could also buy a lightweight folding chair and have hubby carry it for you. There's a Walgreens across the street from the beach near the Marriott in Condado and several places in Isla Verde where you could buy one. Where are you staying?

Thank you - Old San Juan.

From Old San Juan, Condado will be closer than Isla Verde. The closest beach to OSJ is Escambron beach, near the Normandie and Caribe Hilton hotels. It's a nice little beach with a reef-enclosed swimming area and calmer water than Condado, but I don't remember seeing rental chairs there. I don't remember seeing rental chairs at Ocean Park beach either, which is a nice long strip of beach between Condado and Isla Verde. So you're probably better off sticking to those latter two beaches.
