Question about school health forms

Anonymous
I am registering my child for the 20-21 school year. Running into the issue of my child not being able to get her immunizations this spring and well check. Her pediatrician's office is closed, as is her dentist's. School says they won't take last year's health forms. What am I supposed to do? Anyone having this issue?

Your pediatrician's office is totally closed? During a pandemic??

Our pediatrician is doing well visits via video and only having kids come in who need shots. And when they do that, it's carefully with one kid at a time.

OP here. They are only doing immunizations for babies.

We will have this issue when school starts, especially if they are starting in early August. I talked to our school admin and she said not to worry about it for now. I doubt DCPS will be able to enforce the dental form at the very least.

Everyone's going to be in the same boat. Don't worry.

Well so call them and ask if you can do a virtual well visit.

You do not need the health forms to enroll/register. Enroll now and get the health forms later.

Thanks, all. Will look into telehealth and if they have that option.

Health forms have always just been due by the first day of school. Can’t imagine they would change it now.

+1

And ours are always late, because my kid has a September birthday, so her well-kid/vaccination visit is after school starts. I just explain it to the school, give them another copy of last year's form, and it's no big deal.

The real worry will be whether your child has Covid-19 the day the child goes to school. Health forms need to be revamped.

By the way, wondering whether school volunteers will need a coronavirus test in addition to a tuberculosis test.

I imagine that if schools reopen in the fall, they'll start doing shots that kids need for school, and the health department will change their policies to allow virtual visits to count for the forms.
