My most hated thing my kids say during this time

Anonymous
At least 10 times a day: "I'm STARVING!!!!" Me: "What do you want?" Kids: "I don't know. What do we have?" Me: "THE SAME STUFF WE ALWAYS HAVE JUST PICK SOMETHING PLEASE!!!!!"
Ugh.

Stop asking what they want. Either just give something you know they like, have them figure it out in the kitchen themselves, or say "Do you want an apple with peanut butter or string cheese?"

OP - I hear you!! My nearly 4 year old is constantly asking for "Snacks" - even after she JUST HAD ONE.

So I'll make her what she asks for (in between conference calls/emails/Zoom meetings), and she'll say I didn't cut it right, or she wanted her PB&J in 'squares NOT rectangles!'

I think she's just bored, but it's driving me crazy.

They are spoiled brats. Look in the mirror for whom to blame.

I can't take credit for this idea because I read it here, but put together two baskets of snacks, one in the pantry or on the counter and one in the fridge, that have the snacks they are allowed to have during the week. When they run out, they run out. They get to choose when to eat which snacks and hopefully they'll learn some restraint. Label the items if you have more than one kid.

Set up a Snack Station with approved things they can access on their own and open/eat on their own.

If hungry enough, they'll eat something from there. If not, it was boredom.

If it's not one of our meals times they need to drink some water and wait for the meal. We have 3 meals and 2 snacks. Since I believe in eating sitting down even snacks. So they are never more than 1.5 hrs away from food. Most of the time it's thirst and not hunger.

Mine is singing “somebody come get her, she’s dancing like a stripper” in this weird voice all day every day and now it’s stuck in my head too

If you are going to get judgy, at least use proper grammar. It's who, not whom.

We have this. Applesauce pouches, seaweed sheets, freeze dried fruit in the pantry. Yogurt, carrots and celery in the fridge. Plus of course a fruit bowl. If none of those snacks sound good you must not be that hungry.

DS: What's for dinner?
Me: It's 3 pm. Relax.

This every day. DS is 20. Years. Not months.
