Cumulative GPA and cumulative WGPA

Anonymous
Please explain me the difference between Cumulative GPA and cumulative WGPA in high school. What is counted for college admissions?

W is for weighted, and would include extra quality points for AP/IB/Honors classes. Colleges will recalculate GPAs for the core courses so they can have a standardized way to compare their applicants.

What shows up on MCPS transcripts? And are these transcripts available to be viewed somewhere online?

Both cumulative GPA and WGPA are included on transcripts.

Is it clear on the transcript the GPA each year? Unfortunately my child didn’t do as well in the HS classes he took in middle school. I know they are part of the GPA but are they separated in any way?
