What’s it like to drive long distances right now?

Tuesday I am driving almost 400 miles to pick up stuff at daughters school then another almost 400 miles back. Total 800 miles

Headed DC to Amherst MA. What are roads like? Are rest stops open? What if I stay at hotel?

Less cars on the road, but faster drivers. If nothing else, gas stations will be open, and you can use their restrooms. Bring a few masks, gloves (if you have them), and wipes.

Please report back. We will be doing a 500 Miles each way trip to update NY soon for the same reason. We do not want to stay at a hotel.

I’ve had to drive back and forth to Columbia SC several times in the past few weeks. Not a lot of traffic so I’ve been able to make good time. Fewer traffic backups.

OP Drove 800 mile Round trip no problem, rest stops open. Not much traffic and stayed at a Marriott

Can anyone chime in on Highway 29 in Virginia, especially the bathroom situation?

I would only drive if you are a White male. There are tons of crazies and racists in this country. One is in the WH.

Driving is fine. Drove to MI via OH and PA (Turnpikes). Traffic is light.

Drove to South Carolina and back- plenty of cars but no traffic back ups at all- moved right along.
