What is your ‘20 college grad doing now?

Do they have job or a plan on what’s next? Wondering because I’m starting to worry for my ‘21 kid.

Starts a job in July. Big tech company, $94k/year. CS major.

Bumming around the house for the summer before he starts grad school (for physical therapy) in the fall. I’m OK with it.

Was able to walk in the graduation ceremony that didn't happen, but still needs a 3 credit internship to officially graduate. She was finalizing that when everything got locked down, so who knows. She at least has a good paying part-time job and will be able to pay her rent (and has no student loans)

What school did your DC attend? Is this a Bay Area role?

Nothing! Applying for jobs. His backup was coaching baseball this summer, and that’s probably not going to happen. He’s a good, smart kid so I’m trying not to freak out, but I kind of am.

A LAC (not top tier) with a great CS department. Job is in Chicago.

Sleeping!

But nothing said here is relevant to your kid in class of 2021!

OTOH, you could ask where Class of 2020 kids were a year ago (i.e. at the same point in their college careers as your DC is now) *and* what they’re doing after college. At least then you’d get a sense of whether Jrs who seemed aimless to their parents becomes graduates with a clear next step in place. OTOH, we’re all waiting to see what the epidemic does to jobs, education, the economy, etc. so what comes next is inherently uncertain and, right now, projecting from 2020 to other years doesn’t make any sense.

DS is going to Oxford for an M.Phil — that is, if there is a program the fall.
