Ok DCUM, you were meant for this... I need to buy a new car likely sight unseen so I need you to tell me exactly what to get. I know you can do this! Here are the details:
- want to spend about $45k. Paying cash. -have about $2500 trade-in (2010 Prius) -want a luxury *hybrid* suv -as between two or three rows slight preference for three but doesn’t really matter Musts -leather or leather feel seats -heated seats -navigation -auto lift hatchback from remote -apple play -wood trim -nice luxury feel - this is the nicest car I will have ever bought -intermittent wipers with auto sensing technology (as opposed to at pre-set intervals) -self-closing side mirrors -garage door opener in rear view mirror -reliability - plan to keep for about 10 years -good safety structures -rear view camera Would be nice Don’t care about -color -rear entertainment -outside look -country of origin -perceived prestige Since my car is 10 years old you can see I don’t have much experience with this. I’m excited for a new car and was not expecting my new car buying experience to be online. It doesn’t necessarily have to happen now but for various reasons this is the right time for our family. If you can help with details I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you! |
| You want luxury, but don't care about prestige, which is somewhat in conflict. Anyway, steer clear of European if you want long-term and reliable. Maybe a Lexus or Volvo |
| Thanks for the feedback. To clarify - I don’t need flashy. I would rather spend that extra money on comfort and features. I don’t know if that even is a possibility. |
| Easy. Lexus RX. Just got rid of a 2000 that was still going strong. |
|
Lexus RX450h.
Only the 2020's have Carplay standard though so you might need to compromise on that feature or price. |
| Maybe the Hyundai paladade but that isn’t a lot for a luxury suv. Maybe a few year old one. |
Volvo is European. |
| Save $10,000 and get a Toyota Highlander. Drives like a dream, really comfortable and you will get 10+ years out of it. |
Lexus RX- so reliable and luxurious enough. |
Haha, that was me, wasn't thinking. |
+1. What you find in luxury car eventually tickles down to "regular" brands over around 5 years. If you're content with what a 5-year old luxury car had, you'll be content with new Toyota/Honda (minus perhaps the badge/name of car if that matters to you) |
ops, meant "trickles"
|
|
Highlander or rav4 limited in hybrid.
Next. |
| Tesla Model Y base price is $46k. You might have to wait in line though... |
