| Building and afraid there are too many stairs |

I think it depends on where they are. If they are split up between a couple at the sidewalk/street and a few more at the front door, the number might be higher than if they were all together at the front door. I also think having a porch or landing can be a factor.
Like this doesn't seem so bad.
While if those stairs were all at the front door, it wouldn't feel welcoming. |

I’ve lived in three houses on hills.
My childhood home had two sets of stairs. One from the street to the actual sidewalk that was probably 10 stairs and then just three stairs into the house. In college, I lived in a house that has a full set of stairs up the hill and then just one step onto the porch. In my 30s, I lived in a house with 4 steps to the lawn and then three steps into the house. I thought the first two were ridiculous. |

OP here- new house has 14 stairs straight up to house and the stairs from the garage are 8.
I feel bad for mail man, milk man etc |
| We have 17 stairs up to our porch (NW DC, EOTP). When we need to take the stroller we mostly go out the back door (flat to the alley), but I love our stairs. You can't see straight into our house from the street and we never get porch pirates. |
| wish we had more -- more privacy and further away from the street. |
| I prefer 1 step but 5 is a deal breaker for my knees. |
Is there any other flat way into the house? Can you go around in back? It is hugely problematic is someone gets injured or your guests can't walk up 14 stairs. |
| 8. Our last house had 15, which I LOVED for privacy but hated for groceries. I think 6 is ideal |
| You have a milk man? Lol |

| More than 5 |
| My sister live in a house on a hill--probably about 20 steps up from sidewalk to house. When she debilitated by cancer, she couldn't leave her house because it was too difficult to get in and out, Seeing my 87 year old father now navigate even just 2 or 3 stairs-- I will never live in a house that requires more than 1 step in (once I'm out of the one I'm in with 5 steps, that is). |
That's way too many OP, if you don't have a flat entrance from the back either. Hope that's not your forever home, because you will not be able to grow old there. |
| More than 5-6. Stairs are fine for us but we have older family members who visit frequently who can't do more than a few stairs. |
