I’m not a bird watcher, but regularly see cardinals, blue jays, red tailed hawks, what I think is a mockingbird. The other day saw some carrion vultures dealing with roadkill.
I’m definitely appreciate the birdsongs. |
| All of those, plus finches, wrens, crows, plus we’ve had the occasional blue bird, hummingbird, woodpecker, bald eagles in our yard. I love bird watching. |
| I saw a blue jay the other day. It was my first blue jay sighting. I was very excited. Normally see robins. |
|
In addition to all of the above:
nuthatches sparrows chickadees doves and hummingbirds should be arriving soon. |
| The grackles have invaded. We used to get a huge variety but they have taken over the feeder and the suet. |
| We have a popular bird feeder. We get cardinals, house finches, gold finches, catbirds, junco, chickadee, woodpeckers, doves, and bluejays. A few seem to be pairs which is fun. They are so greedy though: the feeder empties in days. |
|
Most common:
Cardinals Mourning doves Blue jays Robins Crows House finches (or are they house wrens?) And a small black bird - maybe starling? |
|
At the feeder and around the yard:
Cardinals Mourning doves Grackles Blue jays Crows Red bellied woodpecker Red headed woodpecker Nuthatch Sparrows Goldfinches Cowbirds Chickadees Catbirds Robins Mockingbirds Flickers Dark eyed juncos Red-winged blackbirds (rarely) Rose breasted grosbeak in spring Towhee Carolina wren Ruby-crowned kinglet Hawks Turkey vultures I once sadly saw what must have been an escaped blue budgerigar at the feeder. He hung around for a couple of days but we could never get near him and he then disappeared. |

| Today we watched a territorial battle between 2 catbirds and a crow. The cat birds kept dive bombing the crow. It was so cool to watch. |
|
In addition to all of the above, we have observed in our yard:
white crowned sparrow tufted titmouse (so cute!!) |
Our blue jays chase off the crows regularly. So funny to see the giant birds chased off. |
| The usual ones but today we had a woodpecker and my SIL has a Baltimore Oriole |
