SAH or WFH parents or those with a nanny are you considering not enrolling in PK3 and just keeping kid at home with you until PK4? Do you think we will see waitlists shrink in the coming months?
I think it depends. Did the person get into their top choice charter? How scared of contracting COVID are they? Young kids especially are significantly more likely to die/ have complications from the flu and schools certainly don't shut down for that.
Yes, I’m thinking about it. But we only got into a school no one wants (with no waitlist), so that doesn’t help you.
They are now tracing more complications in young children. No one was looking for it or making the connections prior. Now that they are it won't be surprising to see those numbers grow. |
I think many are waiting to see the school policy. Why give up your spot if the school allows you to keep your kid home and not lose the spot. I imagine this might be encouraged if they are trying to reduce numbers to allow more distancing.
I'm leaning towards keeping my PreK 3 and PreK 4 kids home. I don't think waitlists will matter one way or another this year because school will probably close as soon as it opens.
I think we will still be doing distance learning next year, so there’s won’t be a need to unenroll.
As a working parent, I think a nanny would be a better option for PK3 kids if distance learning is still at play.
Not a chance I am giving up my lottery winnings.
We are Most likely declining our PK4 position
considering it for sure
No not at all. Sending in for sure. Considering keeping him in his private versus our lottery choice for pk.
Why not keep the position? They're going to be home anyway and then you'll have the spot when everyone goes back in 2021.

I'm watching stuff like the sports leagues very closely right now because I'd like to see what the different plans of action are for when somebody gets sick. And will it matter if its a player (or at a school a kid) or someone in their family? extended family? Will it be like the NBA did with the Nuggets and then the whole league and basically all of sports, one guy gets it and so no more games? Because if that's the contingency plan, its no plan at all.
My kid didn't get into our top choice. How much does that matter? I know so little other than places like here and a bunch of ratings and one-time meetings. It may be different if say my kid was a 11th or 12th grader who had a rapport with the school teachers, the friends, etc. But at PK3 they're literally just starting out. And if it goes online, whats the difference in that vs just homeschooling other than stressing me out because they get more screen time? So I'm leaning towards not enrolling this year and just seeing how things develop over the next 6-12 months. |
Not giving up my PK4 slot because I’m pretty sure school will not be in person anyway. So we enrolled my child but we will not be sending her if for some stupid reason in person ends up being required.
