A document created by the nation’s top disease investigators with step-by-step advice to local authorities on how and when to reopen restaurants and other public places during the still-raging outbreak has been shelved by the Trump administration.

The 17-page report by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention team, titled “Guidance for Implementing the Opening Up America Again Framework,” was researched and written to help faith leaders, business owners, educators and state and local officials as they begin to reopen.

It was supposed to be published last Friday, but agency scientists were told the guidance “would never see the light of day,” according to a CDC official. The official was not authorized to talk to reporters and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

The AP obtained a copy from a second federal official who was not authorized to release it. The guidance was described in AP stories last week, prior to the White House decision to shelve it.

This tracks with the phases that were introduced weeks ago which were supposed to be so important for reopening and then were pretty much never mentioned again.

They don’t want to do the things that are necessary. The CDC is telling us it isn’t safe. We HAVE to wear masks ( ALL OF US). Testing has to be worked out, and it isn’t close to what we need. Etc etc.
Trump and Co. just want us “to be heroes” and just get back to it. Sure some of us will die, but they don’t care.

This document states nothing different than the guidance already being given to businesses.
I don't see it as "earth shattering" or terribly informative beyond what guidance has already been given.
Sounds to me as if some bureaucrat is angry that his magnum opus was rejected.

Just read the childcare portion. Unrealistic. Ideal, perhaps, but whoever wrote it has never worked with groups of children.

I am not even sure states and businesses, particularly those that are supposed to be adhering to OSHA rules, can legally proceed without this guidance.

They're GUIDELINES, not rules. Other countries are managing to do it. They're doing it in Los Angeles for children of essential workers. Things need to change. No, it's not easy, but we can't just throw up our hands and say it's too hard and not try.

The guidance that has already been given has been ignored. Right now, Trump can be happy that the states are opening up and his butt is covered since there was high level guidance provided before.

If more detailed guidance comes out now, it'll remind people that they may be moving forward too quickly, and there may be a pause. You know who won't like that.
