Linen - never/sometimes/always OK in winter?

Anonymous
I have two casual linen jackets that I like to wear to the office (where jeans are fairly standard) when I want to look just a bit more put-together. Can I only wear them between Memorial Day & Labor Day? Between the spring & fall equinoxes? Or can I wear at least the black one tomorrow?

I'm no fashion expert, but I can't imagine wearing linen in January. With that said, I don't think you have to stick to the Memorial/Labor Day thing. Wear them once it's spring-like outside (not a winter heat wave) and stop wearing them once it's fall-like.

Never in winter.

Never wear linen in the winter. Once it is spring, bring it out. In the fall, put it away again.

Never in Winter. Generally, I would only wear betwen Memorial Day and Labor Day. Linen is for hot weather. The only time you can wear not in summer is if you are going to a tropical destination or to the southern hemisphere for their summer/our winter.

Never in winter. I think you could get away with it after Labor Day, but only if it's still really hot and summery. And I think you could pull it back out in, say, April if the weather permits. I would definitely not wear it tomorrow.

Agree that never in winter. I think it is more weather dependent that calendar dependent but I think linen really looks out of place from October-March, at least in the DC area.

Never in winter but you don't have to follow the Memorial Day to Labor Day rule - that was for our moms. Pull them out when the temps start to get in the 60's and put them away when it goes below 60. It could be as early as April (think Easter) and as late as mid-October. Darker colors definitely help. But if they are light in color, wait longer.
