Could someone explain the organized sports program at MoCo middle school? I am thinking about Catholic school and want to understand the differences in sports programs (with Catholic school, you need to rely on CYO). |
There are no organized sports in sixth grade, apart from clubs like the skiing club. Organized school "team" sports start in seventh grade. |
We have kids in a catholic school and also have done county and private programs for sports. CYO is great and you don't have to be in the parish school to participate. You can join the parish program and have your kids in MOCO schools as well. Let me know if you want to know more about CYO. In a nutshell its competitive but inclusive and grounded in good values/goals.

For that matter, your kid could also participate in the various local rec leagues for soccer, basketball et cetera. Or they could even join one of the many travel clubs for sports like soccer. 6th grade is nearing the tail end (if it's not there already) for joining a travel team, so if you're looking for really competitive sports you might want to do this anyway. |
Thanks for all the replies. I definitely understand that I could supplement with outside sports leagues.
Still wondering though what kind of organized sports there are in the MoCo schools, I guess based on one post, starting in 7th grade. Do they have actual teams that play other schools. (I understand that there are plenty in high school) Thanks |
