Baby Moves Very Little (Opposite Problem of Previous Poster)

Anonymous
Ok, I've read all the posts about babies that are active in the uterus, but what about the ones that don't move much at all? I'm 33 weeks, and mine has always been pretty inactive, but seems to be developing normally, at least physically. I've had sonograms to confirm this, and I know from an amnio that there are no chromosomal problems.

Anyone have a very inactive baby that came out just fine? Or didn't?

I was worried during my first pregnancy; I did not feel any movement until around 23 weeks and most of the movements were fairly subtle. I recall a woman in my pre-natal yoga class describing how her baby never stopped moving, was doing somersaults, etc., and of course, this made me worry even more. Thankfully, baby was born super-healthy; he is a bright, happy, very active and very verbal toddler. Currently pregnant with Baby #2. This time around I feel much more movement, especially in the evening between 8-11 pm. Definately discuss your concerns with your doctor. I have found that any worry/concern is worth bringing up with your OB. Best of luck with your pregnancy!

i'm little (only 5ft) and was carrying a baby that consistently ranked in the 60-70th percentile plus in size.. he was shmushed in there! i remember being soooo nervous when i didn't feel him move and trying to poke at him to get him to move. he NEVER did the summersaults or turning the way some women describe. he got into the breech position months before i was due and literally just stayed there (i had a csection). i had a bunch of sonos along the way (other issues) and some showed him crossing his ankles (again, probably so little rooom). he is now 16mo and still crosses his ankles all the time! it's so cute... anyway - don't worry -- nothing you can really do anyway. if you do find yourself obsessing (like I did) call the doc and ask for a check up - heatbeat monitor, sono even.

congrats and best of luck!

OP here. Just had a sono yesterday, and it took forever to get the baby to move. The sonographer said she'd call my doc to discuss, but I haven't heard back yet. The docs keep asking, "Does she react to food, sound, poking? Any sort of regular reaction to anything?" My answer is always no.

I've had absolutely no complications the whole pregnancy (except of course the usual complaints, which haven't been too bad). I'm trying really hard not to worry, but it's tough. I'm usually not the type to worry at all, but I guess having kids changes that forever!
