NJ even opened their parks. We are still allowed to go on the trails. Just open the parking lots and playgrounds. I see people parking on the streets and crossing dangerous roads.
Our families should be allowed to go to the park. |
How are you going to socially distance your kids from other kids at the playground? |
You really need to ask? |
The parking lots are closed to discourage you, OP. |
Central Park in NYC is open. |
It’s not what other places are doing. It’s about amount of cases and keeping social distancing to keep numbers down. |
NJ has opened its state parks, it has NOT opened playgrounds. I don't think NY has opened playgrounds either. Our playgrounds definitely should not be open.
Besides both NY and NJ have seen their numbers start to level off or decline. The DC area has not. |
But our hospital systems are not overwhelmed. We need to consider reopening to some extent soon. |
No, they aren't - because we closed down a bit earlier in the curve than NY/NJ did so our numbers are lower than they would have been. Once DC's numbers start to level off/decline, i'm pretty sure a phased reopening will start. But it's not going start with playgrounds. By the way, many MD and VA state parks are open. People are hiking/biking in Rock Creek Park. You can get outside if you want. |
I feel like I have roughly enough access now even if some parking lots are closed but trails are open. I don’t mind walking a bit if I have to. |
Why not start with playgrounds. Closing playgrounds is not scientifically based. It may make you feel safer, and you can choose not to go. Let those that want to have the option. |
Not the playgrounds, zoo or boathouse. Playgrounds aren’t safe right now. I support waiting to reopen. But yes, masked people are on the lawns and trails in Central Park hopefully keeping social distancing. |
I disagree completely. Playgrounds should be among the last to reopen. Little kids cannot keep not understand social distancing nor can they keep masks on. Further the hard plastic structures hold corona for about 8 hours minimum outside. The last place a child should be is a playground. |
Information is emerging out of European studies that children 10 and under rarely transmit COVID to each other. Something about the receptors. It is the reason some European countries are reopening grade schools. Obviously more study needed but all signs point to children being the opposite of vectors. It’s parents and old ppl that should stay home. |
Playgrounds should stay closed. Kids are adorable “walking, talking bacteria spreaders!
