We are relocating to DC in May. Would love your suggestions. We will be living in NW DC.
Thanks in advance! |
Intown playgroup runs a nice summer camp in June:

When my son was that age last year I found it very difficult to find summer things in DC. Every place seemed to focus solely on camps (to fill kids time when not in school). The Smithsonian, the zoo, music schools, even DC Parks and Rec do camps for school age kids, nothing for that age and nothing in the once a week type situation that you find the rest of the year.
That said, I did hear that Musikids is running Mommy and Me mini-camps this summer. Try www.musikids.com. I have a younger child too, so I would love to hear someone with better knowledge or ideas prove me wrong! |
Lots of swimming places (both public and private) offer swim classes in the summer. I've done it every summer with my son and we love it. |
Blue Igloo has a camp too.
|
FONZ will probably have Zoo Babies classes in the summer. Some of those are for toddlers. |
The zoo only does camps in the summer. No classes for little ones -- they don't have space. |
Levine School for Music offers summer classes for little ones (it's a parent and child class at 2 1/2). We have been going year-round since my son was 1 (he will be 3 this summer). Most of the preschools offer summer camp too. We love zoo classes and also local YMCA gym classes, but they aren't offered during the summer.
Welcome to DC! |
OP here.
Thanks all. The Levine School seems to only offer classes for older preschoolers, but the Musikids looks like a good fit. Appreciate all the thoughtful replies! |
