My kid has a fever and headache

Anonymous
We have had no contact with anyone. We went on a bike ride yesterday. Kids played in the yard. DS does have allergies and has had some watery eyes and some sniffles here and there. Yesterday he said his allergies were bad and I gave him Claritin. Today he is not itchy but complained of a headache. Has 101 fever.

What could this be?

Ugh we try so hard not to be in contact with anyone and my kid still gets sick.

Your kid is sick, not dying. Relax. It can be anything

Grocery store?
Mail?

Could be anything. Almost no one realistically can be an entirely closed system.

Just manage it as you could any cold or bug.

Op here. My parents were supposed to come down from NY tomorrow.

I wanted the first people we see to be my parents. I made sure we didn’t see anyone so it would be safe for them to come to our house.

Well delay that visit. Disappointing but that's life.

Viral particles stay for hours on things handled or sneezed on by others. Those suggestions to decontaminate groceries, mail or other items were not generated for nothing. And don’t get me started on take-out...

Best wishes for your child’s recovery. I hope no one else is sick in your house. Your parents will be exposed if they come.

Your kid may not even have Covid.

Sigh.

What is the point of getting groceries delivered if you’re getting take-out?

I don’t want to rub it in, OP, since your kid id sick. Thank you for posting so that others can understand the consequences of each action they take.

I don’t think my kid has covid. I’m just wondering how he got sick and now my whole perspective is changing.

My plan was to see my parents first and start relaxing things. Now I’m not so sure. I have 3 kids and when school is in session, the kids are always getting sick. I was pleased how no one has been sick for months and now my kid gets sick when we are home not interacting with anyone. Ugh.

Could it have been from his bike? He could have touched the wheel. I am fairly certain we have not washed his bike this past month and I can’t remember if we have ever wiped down his helmet now that I am thinking about it. We do strictly wash our hands as soon as we come inside the house.

Don’t you think higher odds someone sneezed on your groceries in the store or the delivery person was doing 10 deliveries that day and interacting with some of the customers as fast as handing things to them or your Instacart shopper is in stores all day....could be one of many things

I know someone who got Covid after 3 weeks of quarantine (by herself)....groceries delivered only.
