| I had my IUI this week and the nurse said come back in one week to test progesterone levels, but it won’t be a pregnancy test, I’ll have to come back in two weeks for that. Does anyone know why I need to come back twice? Can I skip the first test? I want to limit Covid exposure. |
I got pregnant on my first IUI and immediately started bleeding due to low progesterone despite being on pills. Started taking the PIO shots and all went back to normal, possibly saving me from a miscarriage. If you’d rather take internet stranger’s advice over your own doctor perhaps it wasn’t the right time for you to seek medical treatment for infertility. |
0 need for the snark. |
| No, you cannot skip the first test. Throw on a mask and suck it up and go for both. I miscarried due to low progesterone and then had to be put on progesterone starting at 3dpo every cycle. You won’t know if you have low progesterone unless you go....so go. |
| OP here. Thanks for the responses. I asked here because the doctor left the room without giving me any opportunity to ask. I will go, now I understand the importance |
| Mine also said they used it to confirm ovulation. |
| She told you, to check your progesterone levels. |
Which does not explain anything if you are completely new to this. Are you the same person as above who thinks someone who posts a question online is not fit to have children? Do you get pleasure by being rude for no reason? |
| A lot of infertility/miscarriages are caused by low progesterone levels. |
I did not have a blood test for it though. I was given progesterone pills after each IUI that I took. |
| I never had a blood test for progesterone levels after IUI. My clinic's standard practice was to prescribe progesterone supplements for all IUIs and embryo transfers. |
Fixed it for you! |
