A friend of mine posted a cute video of her new baby. What surprised me as I was checking out other baby videos is that people have posted videos of their babies pooping, peeing, farting, breastfeeding (not discreetly), etc.
Does anyone else find this a little weird? |
| I would be very careful. What seems completely harmless to you may seem something quite different to someone else out there. Several weeks ago one of the blog postings on the DCUM home page reported that after the author posted pictures of her children swimming naked on Flickr, they received something like 1,000 page views (even though they had been classified as "private"). There are better ways to share cute videos/pictures with your friends and family. |
| P.S. Should be obvious, but by "you" I don't mean OP. |

Yes-very weird. I realize that parents think that everything related to their baby is adorable (I'm the same way). But, I am not interested in their bowel movements and their other bodily functions. It's grose and the fact that their parents want to share this with the world is disgusting. Geez! some parents are clueless.

I just did a youtube search on baby poop and I can't believe how many "views" some of these videos have! That is scary! Who is watching these???
I also did a search on breastfeeding and saw a clip of a woman breastfeeding her 8 year old - WRONG! If you are going to do it, no nead to share with the world. I also so a "way too intimate" video of a woman breastfeeding her baby in a tub. What ARE these people thinking??? This clip had many views as well -- I can only imagine who is watching this. |
| No. We use a site called vimeo.com so that we can have our child's videos password protected. |
| I like Vimeo as well. There are moments you want to share w/family (ours are overseas) but that you would rather not share with strangers. We are too aware these days of predators, why give them an opportunity to exploit more children?! |
| I never post any pictures, videos, or other information about my kids online. Even in sites where you can control access, you may have much less control than you think. Its sad but stalkers and those who would do harm do use these sites. The most dangerous activity is posting pictures along with identifying information. Even in separate sites, it is easy for someone to piece together the information. |

Never never never would I do this. I can understand family in far off places who want to see it, but you must be safe.
I also don't understand those people who have whole websites/blogs about their familes. Some things are meant to be kept private and safe. |
| Why do parents feel so self-important that they feel the world wants to see their child taking a dump? Grose...Grose....Grose |
|
Never! Too many weirdos out there. Plus, people can exploit your postings.
Why must people always show off? |
It's a LOT weird. Beyond being scary, it's just plain embarrasing for the kid, right? Could you imagine how the 8 year old might feel being (at best) teased at school? Sad. |
| That is TOO weird...WHY would people share pictures of their CHILDREN with the world? we don't even use our children's NAMES in this site, let alone pictures. There are, unfortunately, too many weirdos out there...too much is scary. |

OK, after reading about the 8-year-old breastfeeding video, I had to check it out. It is the number 2 video on YouTube when you search on breastfeeding.
This is just nuts! I breastfed exclusively for over a year and I thought some people were a little judgmental about that, but this takes the cake!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxv6R9fUO74 |

I am totally grossed out, I just watched the video of that woman BF her 8 year old. It was totally weird.
I have posted a video clip of my DD in youtube so that I can share it with others. I made it public as I figure who in the heck would find it, but then someone posted to it and it freaked me out. All she is going is playing so it's nothing crazy like you mentioned in earlier posts. I've since made it private but I am not sure if that makes a difference?? |
