Hi all - just looking for advice on how to proceed. I am 30 and my DH is 34. We've been diagnosed with male-factor (two varicole veins). We did our first round of IVF in Janurary resulting in 8, 5 day blasts. We did a fresh transfer and a subsequent FET that both failed. My doctor is now reccomending PGG testing along with an ERA. Should I be asking for anything else? I am really hesitant to spend the $5k on the genetic testing and have read mixed reviews on the ERA. Any advice is welcome - thank you!
I would first be really questioning whether you got a good full analysis of the issues you’re experiencing. A varicocele should not automatically mean IVF, not to mention it’s a very easy procedure to fix. I went to a clinic who basically pushed IVF on me from the start, but transferred to another clinic where they did 1000 more tests than the first, both my husband and I had some minor surgeries (my husband for a varicocele) and I ended up not even having to consider IVF. I’d get a second opinion before spending more money.
My husband underwent varicocele surgery and his motility and morphology got worse.
My case is unexplained, so when our 1st FET with a normal tested day-5 embryo failed to implant, I am doing ERA on my next FET just to rule everything out. FYI all of my day-5 blast are normal, so i kinda wasted money there, but after spending lot of $$$, time and emotion on an ivf cycle, I'd rather not waste my previous embryos.
