Woom bikes- are they really that great that people are over bidding on eBay?

What’s the deal with Woom bikes? Most models are out of stock until June and people are going crazy bidding for used bikes on eBay. With shipping, the rates are going higher than a new bike. Is it really that big a deal to wait for them to be in stock in early June? Why are people going crazy? There are other excellent, available bikes out there that cost less than what people are paying on eBay. Kids bikes in general are hard to find now, but still! I found many on Facebook marketplace. What gives?

Ha funny I just bought one cold for my 5 year olds birthday in early April without knowing they were so popular. I can say that it is extremely well made and she learned how to ride it without training wheels in 3 days! My 8 year old son is now begging for one after seeing hers!

They are nice bikes but not worth the price for a kids bike. They are the latest gimmick.
It is like buying a Lexus, more because you can than because you need to.

My kid rode 2 wheeled bike without training wheels when she was 5 without a balance bike or a zoom bike. Took about 45 mins of practice and she got it.

they're great. My 3 year old got one on his birthday and was riding with no training wheels that day. They're very well designed and you're paying for that. Also, they have a program where you can return your used bike and get $100 off the next size up. they then donate the used one.

Not contesting that they are not good/great bikes. Are they that great that you would pay MORE for a used one bc they are out of stock?

Get a regular bike and take the pedals off. That's what we did with our 5 year old. Then, you can put pedals back on. Only have to buy one bike.

This. The grandparents bought my kid one. It is AWESOME. Would my kid be able to learn and enjoy to ride a bike without one? Abso-f-in-lutely.

It’s a status symbol for kid’s bikes. I am sure they are nice but really not all that different from other kids bikes and def not something your child will notice as it’s their first bike.

Our three-year-old twins learned how to ride a bike with no training wheels in less than a week on a Zoom. At 6 they now have a bike with gears and are far ahead in terms of riding ability than any of their friends, including older kids. Is it the bike? I don't know, but it certainly didn't hurt! Also, they have a buy-back program when you exchange your kid's bike for the next size up. Their customer service is amazing and we've been really happy with the bikes we've gotten so far.

Woom bikes have pedals, so I'm not sure you know what you're talking about.

What is it about the bike design that makes it a lot easier for kids to learn how to ride.

This! It’s right up there with $800 strollers and such. If you want it and can afford it fine, you do you, but let’s not pretend it’s anything more than a cheapo bike.
