Burke Lake Park

Is Burke Lake Park open at all? Looking to go and feed the ducks, do people still do that?

The parking lots are closed. The trails are open & it’s not uncrowded on the weekends.

It’s not “uncrowded”? Is that code for crowded?

I mean on a normal, non-pandemic day I wouldn’t consider it exactly crowded but if you’re trying to social distance it’s a little too crowded for my comfort. If you go early morning or during the week it’s probably better. Earlier during on a weekday is probably better too. My husband ran there one weekday afternoon last week and said it wasn’t empty but maybe a little better than a weekend afternoon.

No, it means not uncrowded. As in- not crowds of people but not just a few people either.

How are so many people getting there if the parking lots are closed?

A decent amount of people can actually run, walk or bike there, and people also park on the street.

They park along 123. So instead of dying of Covid they will be hit by cars speeding by at 55mph.

There’s quite a few neighborhoods nearby and it would easily be possible to bike there. But yes ... they mostly just park dangerously along 123. Wish they’d just open the parking lots at the parks. I’ve received emails from Herrity‘s and Storck’s offices saying that they’re disappointed that the parks department made that decision and the BoS is trying to convince them otherwise. They’re opening farmers markets either this coming weekend or next but still no park parking lots.

They really should open the parks and farmers markets. Pools and tennis courts too!

This! Can’t believe this is allowed.
