Probably 30% of my Facebook friends only post their kid’s first initial when talking abt them (“L ate a slice of pizza”). I always use my kids’ names just because it wouldn’t occur to me not to. For people who do this, is it a privacy thing? Or is it just a cuteness/simplicity thing? |
Because they are tired. |
Privacy |
It's privacy. Isn't that funny. I mean, first of all, why do you not want friends of yours to know your kid's name. But secondly, do you really think Facebook doesn't know? |
How much privacy do you gain when you post a picture of your kid’s face but say K instead of Kate? |
I think people think they're being cool. Like the people who sign work emails with their initials. |
People in casual handwritten correspondence have done this through out history. It’s nothing new. |
I don’t want to type out the whole name via tapping on my phone |
Yes! |
+1 |
It's privacy but it's doesn't work because they will post "K got on the honors list!" and there is always someone who responds "Great job Kathleen!" |
So glad I got off facebook before it became 90% 40 year old moms and their moms. |
It’s faster.
|
so this. |
Yep. For me it’s a nod to privacy, but mostly because my kid has a “foreign” first name that always gets autocorrected, so I just type A. |
