Deferring admission question

Assuming that you are allowed to defer admission at an accepted school for one year, are there any issues if you decide during your deferral year to apply elsewhere? Would your high school refuse to send transcripts and recommendations? I know our school monitors people for things like double depositing (ie will not send two final transcripts, and I understand why). Just curious if anyone has experience with this situation. Fully intending on enrolling after the year is over...but who knows...if interests change may consider applying elsewhere if allowed.

Some colleges require one or more additional deposits by December that are credited against the 8th semester bill.
