Dating apps and sexual identity?

Anonymous
So I am an older millennial growing up with female or male as the only 2 gender identities. However now every date app and website sign up has changed to a myriad of gender options. Is it just me or is it ridiculous? CIS gender, demisexual, pansexual, hetereoflexible, bisexual, uses she/he pronouns, and the list goes on. I don't even know what half of the hundred of gender identities mean. Who thought this up and did they do this to make life more complicated? Are there more non heterosexual people in America now?

This complaint is ultimate nothing burger. There's the same amount of non heterosexual person as there was in the past. Only now, people feel comfortable about it as they no longer face violent persecution, legal, economic, and (significantly less) social discrimination.

Why shouldn't dating apps that want to cater to all demographics do so? At the end of the day, that's equality means- everybody's money is equally green.

There's a very easy solution to your problem. If you're female and heterosexual, choose female and heterosexual on dating apps. If that's too complicated for you, then dating apps are not for you.

Yes it is ridiculous and you can thank liberals trying to appease .01% of the population who does not identify as their birth sex/gender.

It's done to encourage the huge demand for pansexual-demisexual relationships.

It's done to satisfy pornsick men's fetishes.

Learn the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation as a starting point. You’re mixing up two very different things

Demisexual, pan sexual, and heteroflexible are not gender identities. They are sexualities. Someone can be cisgender and straight, bi, gay, pansexual or heteroflexible in terms of who they are attracted to. Demisexual means you are only attracted sexually when you have a romantic connection.

I think this will bother you less if you learn the meanings of the terms.

For what it matters, I’m a middle aged, cisgender, straight woman.

NP. Thanks, but I don't plan to spend one second of my valuable life "learning the difference" on something so ridiculous.

You don’t know what demisexual means if you think men have fetishes about it.

+10000. Agree, OP, it's crazy. So is the Facebook option of make-up-your-own gender.

Then dating apps will continue to frustrate you. Get used to your hand.

Why aren’t you so triggered by the use on those sites of dozens of words for blonde?

How is honey blonde not light brown?

Agreed. You'll get along better with your kids, too.
