GAL, Will this work

Would you be interested in this league for your daughter.

DA parent (yes I know former or demised or whatever we are calling it) and the answer to your question is No. My kid is an 04 that cant risk playing in an unproven league that will get leftover players/teams.
Whats the point of doing so when established reputable options exist elsewhere

You believe changing clubs junior year is smart?

We do and we are for a variety of reasons.

Yes. We chose the club where DD plays now based on coaching and the kids she's playing with. She has gotten better through training and I don't expect any of this to change just because of the league. Would be nice if new league can get rid of some of the dumb DA rules. We believe college coaches will still come watch the team since many of the girls on the team have drawn interest already.

Why start a new league. Join EDP with the other DA clubs. Pipeline would play in your conference and they will add the ex-BA players. If you add Penn Fusion and PA Classic you have a very strong schedule. A new league seems like adult doing their best to weaken youth soccer. The entire point of US Soccer's decision was based on the reality that we don't need two elite national leagues.

If you read the EDP press release it is pretty clear that EDP will be integrated with the new league.

It doesn’t matter. When clubs decide what leagues their teams will play in, they’ll convey what level it’ll be. For example: ECNL will be top tier, and have 24-26 players on a roster with playing time earned and not promised. Second team kids will get told there will be opportunities to play up, but with large rosters that’ll be especially hard.

For bigger non-ECNL clubs, they’re setting themselves up and they’ll do the same with their teams and players. All clubs with more players will end up getting more playing time overall, just not in the realm of ECNL. Whether it’s GAL, EDP, etc.

The only real problem will be those small clubs. One team per age group, missing teams in age groups, poor standings in leagues, etc. Players generally move “up”, not down.

Sucks for 2021-2022-2023 players. Need proven showcases. I just can’t risk this with our daughter.

Two of the best clubs in the country(Legends and Beach), who were not given entry into ECNL, have joined the ECNL Regional League(ECNL2) instead of joining GAL. GAL looks like the 3rd best option to most clubs. Doubt GAL will work in the long run.

Yeah but ECNL out here is rather weak. GAL/EDP/CCL will all generally improve, whereas ECNL will improve the most. The only real trouble out here are those smaller clubs—and that was only exacerbated by COVID-19.

So much for Arlington and FCV joining GAL. Well, maybe the club could still join GAL, but the Arlington/FCV teams will not include any of their former DA players.

I love how so many people know exactly how this is going to work out without knowing which teams will be in it. Maybe give it more than 3 business days since the league's announcement and see if any teams enter? I'm guessing they are holding any announcements until they can announce a big group together, but that's just a hunch.

DD is going to try to make the jump to ECNL. Guaranteed that showcases will be packed with college coaches, while new leagues or GAL can't provide the same. No time to spare and have to maximize the chance she'll be seen by the right coaches at the right time. Will suck leaving a good team, but will be best for us in the long run.

Rising junior? 2022 03s and 2022 04s will join for the 2021-2022 season. Yes, I think switching makes sense for two solid years of development before college.
