| My car has a few recall notices on it that I’ve been putting off. I thought this might be a good time to get it done, even though I’m not driving the car much at all, but when things open back up it gets more difficult to drop off and pick up the car. Would there really be a risk in doing this? I guess there would be minimal contact with a service rep and I’d have to drive the car home not knowing whether it was thoroughly disinfected. |
| I had my car serviced by a dealer last week. They picked it up, serviced it, brought it back to my driveway, and then disinfected it. I haven't driven it since but it was an easy process. |
| I'm waiting. |
| I’ll need an oil change and inspection soon. I’m not worried. I’ll wear a mask to drop it off - spouse will drive me home in other car. Reverse for pick up. Wash hands and let car sit for 3 days before driving again. |
| Most states have given extra time for inspections and most people change oil way more often than needed. |
| i took mine both in the first week - they were sanitizing like crazy - felt safer than the grcoery store |
Safe? No, you’ll get mugged.

I dropped mine off using overnight drop so did not have to interact directly. When they were done I paid over the phone using credit card. I gave them my spare key which I had them lock inside my car with the receipt. DH drove me over the next day to pick i it up. I wiped everything down to drive home. Car then sat in my driveway for about a week.
You might as well take care of it now when the shop is not that busy and you have nowhere to go. |

Also please be on the lookout for any deals from the dealer. I got a stellar deal for my transmission (MDX after 80K miles) from an email from the dealer. I was planning on getting it done later during the summer but the deal was too good to pass. I think the dealerships are hurt too owing to the pandemic.
It's a win-win if you can find a good deal and help each other out |
My husband took our car in and he said the same thing. Rubber gloves, paper, and lots of sanitizing spray. |
