Theatre - online performance?

Anonymous
My child was 1 week away from beginning the performances (after about 8w of 1x/week rehearsal and 1 week with 4 days rehearsal).

Now they want to do some sort of zoom rehearsal plus individual filming to make a montage of the performance. It has been the over one month from the last rehearsal and honestly, my child is not interested. To be completely honest, I could make my child do it, but I’m not interested either. We have so much going on now, with homeschooling, projects, etc.

I want to just ignore this...

Ok, so I’m wondering if I wrote this post....

...same situation. Except my DC’ was maybe three weeks away from performance when school closed. So hadn’t gotten to the intense ramp-up phase.

Situation is complicated by fact that DC isn’t exactly engaged with in-line learning. So doesn’t need the distraction.

BUT if I ignore the email, DC will be replaced in the role. And DC will find out about it on socual media. Yikes.

So based on this thought process, I will forward email to DC, so DC will decide.

Thanks, OP, for taking the time and energy to focus on this!

traveling players is going to be doing virtual plays this summer. they're planning on mailing the kids costumes and props and then doing virtual backgrounds for the set. i'm skeptical but my daughter wants to be with her friends and they're doing it so we signed up.

DC class did the "final performance" over zoom. It's such a chaos because with over 40 people (kids, parents, grandparents, etc.), there's at least one second delay and occasional frozen screen which messed up the entire performance. The kids didn't care so much that they're all off beat but it's painful to watch, to say the least.
