Will smaller to medium sized gyms survive Covid-19?

Anonymous
I have a gym membership to a medium sized fitness club that originally had 7 locations, bus recently closed 2 branches in 2019. I receive emails saying that if you are able and willing to pay membership dues that it will certainly be appreciated in these trying times.

I'm wondering between my gym and gyms that have just a single location if they will be able to survive this mess if restrictions continue well into June.

If they can pay their rent for the ensuing months (which is the big IF) then I think those ones will do better, no? I mean I'm grossed out by the idea of a gym in normal times, let alone now. But if you have to go to a gym, isn't it better to go to a smaller one -- fewer members, less popular, less foot traffic in the gym/locker room/showers?

I do prefer smaller gyms. Those are the ones I'm most worried about.

Most gyms will survive with reduced staff and cut down on extras. Expect poor quality service and more paperwork to sign.
