Favorite lake vacations?

My 2 boys love fishing and boating. Would love to plan a lake vacation. I prefer resort amenities but a lake house rental works as well.

I don’t know if we will be able to go this summer but it gives us something to plan and look forward to.

Coeur d'Alene in Idaho. While you are there you can go to Glacier National Park

Check out a rental on Whitefish Montana, near Glacier National Park. Get the rental on Whitefish Lake.

Another option would be to rent on Flathead Lake also
near Glacier National Park.

There are some houses for rent in Glacier National Park on McDonald Lake too.

We enjoy the Finger Lakes. Great hiking, cute towns, not very crowded.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

Prettiest lake I've ever seen!

Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park is lovely. There are cabins, a historic lodge and motel rooms, along with boat rentals. Lots of other activities and scenery in this huge park as well, including the Pacific coast, mountains and rain forests.

Can you fish there? Any lakeside rentals?

Go big or go home — nothing compares to Great Lakes. Try Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan.

I’ll get flamed For saying it but deep creek is pretty fun and the area is much prettier than I was expecting.

The last time people suggested Finger Lakes, I researched and had a hard time finding any houses that looked nice. Maybe I wasnt looking to spend enough—I think I said up to 4K a week and everything just looked very run-down. Maybe I wasnt looking at the right places—would be interested in specific suggestions.

PS another place to look, if you are looking out west, is coer d’alene. I know there is a resort on the lake there but I’ve never stayed there.

Op here. These lakes look amazing. I am going to make a future vacation list.

I was actually looking for something we could drive to. I don’t think we will be flying for a while.

Drivable? Check out Lake Wallenpaupack rentals.

I haven't been but maybe Lake Winnipesaukee. You could watch the movie "what about Bob" for research

I’d you are in VA then smith mountain lake isn’t bad if you have a boat. I don’t so it’s not amazing as you are pretty limited to just your lake house. There’s a few resorts where you can rent stuff but it isn’t my fav but it isn’t terribly far.

One that I love but is currently closed for rentals until things open up is Douthat State Park. I love their cabins! There’s a number of lovely state parks with nice cabins. Its not luxurious but we thought it was pretty romantic, the beach and view are really nice, the little restaurant is nice, and you can get lemonade slushies, sit in the shade and read while the kids play on the beach Soo it works!! I actually might do that this summer.
