Everything will remain shutdown and residents restricted to their homes for an additional month, unless participating in an approved activity.

She will allow zoning hearings to move forward because delays in building needed housing are obviously unacceptable.

Upscale market rate vibrant dense mixed use housing.

Excuse me, I meant “affordable housing.”

Bowser says it’s all about the affordable housing.

It is. Right now it’s up to developers to build affordable units. Cost of development is through the roof because of all the lawsuits, which makes it difficult for developers to subsidize low income families.

The developers aren’t subsidizing anyone. The homeowners are doing that. That cost of subsidizing low income housing gets passed 100% to the people who purchase the condos.

Oh, please. Regulatory burdens and litigation on developers are much less than in Washington than in other American cities. Indeed, the reason for much of the cases filed involving DC development projects stem from the failure of DC regulators to follow the processes set down in the law. Instead, DC authorities, who are known for their coziness with the development sector, frequently reach poorly supported decisions based on a flimsy record.
