Let us troll FCPS! What are MD public schools doing right? What are they doing wrong?

| I have been so tired of NoVa posters ripping apart MCPS. And MD public school system overall. Well, not working that well for them now, is it? What education is better, no education or some education? But, anyway, on a serious note, my youngest graduated last year. So, how are MD public schools and MCPS doing right now? I would love to know. Thanks. |

This kind of trolling isn't helpful, but I will say I'm pleasantly surprised by how online learning is going for my kids (early elementary and upper elementary).
The communication from teachers is clear and consistent, assignments are due on a regular schedule, and I'm glad MCPS didn't do what Arlington did and just opt out of instructing K-2 entirely. |

I am talking about FCPS starting school on Monday, and having a delay on Tuesday and then cancelling on Wednesday! Are you telling me that FCPS normally has weeks of spring break? |

You can't expect us to know what FCPS is doing. If true, that's pretty messed up. I heard the delay was because MS and HS kids were abusing Zoom, which did make me grateful that MCPS was using SSO from the start. |

That delay was only for yesterday. Anyway, this shows that MCPS parents(though no me!) are better humans beings than FCPS parents on dcum that are willing to tear down MCPS non stop. |

Well, I don't know about what FCSP is or is not doing, but I found out that niche rates MCPS as a district higher than FCPS. So, if you follow rankings in niche, there is that.

| From all the descriptions it sounds like MCPS and FCPS distance learning is pretty identical and equal in being a shit show. The main difference is that Fairfax is freaking about it and trying to correct course. MCPS doesn't give a crap because when something is bad they just dig in deeper. In 7 years, MCPS will be forced to do an external audit by a respected University who will confirm what everyone knew that the MCPS distance learning program was a disaster. Until then the MCPS PR department will keep saying its wonderful. |

I was quite impressed by my child’s music teacher. She admitted my child early and while waiting for others to join us, she gave my daughter a one on one instruction on the flute. This is lower elementary general music and my girl was sharing the instrument.
