annoyed by requests on DCUM listserve... anyone else?

Anonymous
Yes, I know how to use the delete key, but... is anyone else totally annoyed by the constant solicitations for information that could be found in a 2 minute Google search?

1) Should I rent a car at Disney?
2) Where do I stop to eat on 95 between here and New York?
3) Where can I take my kids to burn off energy?
4) Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, but cheap, inexpensive, low-cost person to do X? I don't want to pay a lot, but I want good results.

Uhhh....
1) Uhh... check a site that rates hotels. And, uh, if you are on Disney property, then there is generally good transport to Disney activities. If you're gonna spend the $$ to go to Disney and stay on property, haven't you researched it? And, IMHO there is no better reason to stay ON property there.
2) They still have those signs on major highways that show what restaurants are at the next exits. Or if you insist on planning ahead, use one of the dozen map tools online to figure it out.
3) We are in an urban area. There are a zillion malls, Little Gyms, My Gyms, Gymborees, parks & rec centers, PLAYGROUNDS, etc. Pick one.
4) We all want good quality cheap stuff and services. You get what you pay for.

For heaven's sake.

Of course, I'm no better since I am bitching about it. Guess I could unsubscribe. I just feel like the more meaningful stuff is being overwhelmed by the For Sale posts, ISO posts and inane questions like these.

Unsubscribe, you won't miss it. I stopped my subscription at least 18 months ago.

NP here. Seriously, you don't miss it at all? I got kicked off (I think my email account was bouncing messages) a while back. I haven't bothered re-subscribing since these forums are easily accessible. I'll feel much better if I know that everything worthwhile can be found here

No, I don't get annoyed. I find it helpful to ask some of these types of questions because I like hearing from real people. And I like to answer other people's questions.

Example of a google search: I looked up food that kids like. What did I find? Strawberry sandwiches with cream cheese. Ok, a person who doesn't have kids obviously wrote that. And I found a bunch of other suggestions that no one in the real world would give to their kids. Whereas on DCUM, people will tell you what actually works for their kids.

Don't do the subscription. Just look on the website and click on the ones you are interested in.

I really like the listserv. Sometimes I post those questions myself, and people are really nice and write back thoughtful responses.

I actually get more annoyed by non-parenting posts in the General Parenting Discussion forum. Hence, I'm locking the thread.
