Transportation to AAP

Anonymous
My DC just got selected for AAP. The email said that the bus stop is like a neighbourhood bur stop, meaning it won't come to our house stop but we need to drive to a central location. Can anyone share where these neighborhood bus stops are for Willow Springs AAP if the kid is zoned to Oak View?

Also, any feedback on Willow Springs AAP would be helpful. Thanks much.

They change slightly each year, depending on the number of kids and the schools they go to in each neighborhood. The transportation office will send you a letter and/or call you with the location and timing of the bus stop a week or so before school starts. Assuming that you told FCPS that your kid will go to the center school.

The bus stop for kids in our neighborhood is within walking distance but we would be Oak Hill.

Thank you. Just was trying to figure out if it was going to be a walk or drive to the stop but I guess will just have to wait.

I am hoping we can just do SACC at the base. It would make things much easier.

What do you mean by your "house stop"?

The neighborhood will have bus stops close to your house for the AAP center. It will sometimes be the same stop as the neighborhood school.

This. Did you expect your kid to get picked up at your front door? Does your base school do that?

My kid doesn’t go to that base / center but another one.

The local middle school bus stop is only a few houses down from us. But the ES AAP Center is in our neighborhood but 0.4 miles from our house. I hope that helps.

^^ I meant to say the ES AAP bus stop is 0.4 miles away from our house

One of my friends does this. The kids go to SACC at the base.

It's the only way we can make it work for us. I don't feel good leaving an 8 year old girl to catch the bus on our corner. I like the adult to adult transfer.

The transportation office is open and you can email them (I did to find out possible bus times for a home we were thinking of buying). Just tell them that your child was accepted in AAP at x school and based on your address, can they tell you the drop off/pick times and location.

Yes. My kid is in AAP - I expect pick up in a luxury bus at the front door. Why do you ask?

(Your comment added as much value as this one).

some kids with IEPs get picked up at their house, so it might be confusing to some people.

Thank you. Super helpful response. We are new to FCPS. I assume I can find the transportation email on the FCPS website. Never emailed them before. Thanks once again.
