Announcing HD Cooke Elementary School's open houses!

When: Jan 20 and Feb 11th, 9 AM to 11 AM

HD Cooke Elementary school offers education from Preschool (aged 3) through 5th grade. Last year, Cooke moved back into a newly renovated school after five years away from the the neighborhood. Community reaction was positive, and a broad variety of parents opted to send their children to this exciting neighborhood school. Enrollment exceeded expectations, and HD Cooke hosts a diverse and growing student body.

The open house offers a chance to learn about the exciting things happening at HD Cooke - the International Baccelaureate program, the 1.5 hours of Spanish every week for every child, the state-of-the art "green" school, the freshly made cafeteria food cooked on site...the list goes on and on. The open house will include a presentation by Ms. Kathleen Black, Principal of HD Cooke, Q&A, and a school tour. I (as PTA president) intend to be on hand to welcome prospective parents and answer questions. Come to either open house, but note that specific questions about the number of total openings can't be answered at the 1/20 open house because the DCPS budget isn't finalized yet.

Also, some of us twin moms are planning to host another school choice forum, probably in early February. I will keep you posted as we work out the details.
