| I'm hosting a tea and would like to find a bakery or store that sells really good scones -- the English kind, round, not the American triangles. Anyone know of a place? Alternatively, do you have a great scone recipe you can recommend? Thanks. |
| I made the cream scones from the joy of cooking recently. They were very easy and really delicious. |
Thanks. The original Joy of Cooking, or the newer one, PP? I only have the old one. |
| Cooking Light Blueberry Scone recipe is great. I've made them for years and love it that they are lower in calories than most. |
I think it was the newer one - I have both and forget which one I used. |
| Baking with julia had a great recipe which I use, with raisins and grated lemon zest. Pretty easy to make and they have become my signature dish. Do you want me to dig it up? If so, I can post in the morning. |
If they're your signature dish, yes, please do post it. That would be really nice of you. I will also look at JOC; I hope the PP's recipe is in there. Thanks, all! |

I never had great success with scones until I learned to work the dough as lightly and quickly as possible before popping it into the oven... otherwise scones turn out hard/dry.
Now I want to eat some
