if you had an addition built -- what contract did you use?

We're trying to plan an addition on our house. A book we read recommended that people use American Institute of Architects (AIA) standard contracts, because they favor the client and have been thoroughly tested in court. We have been speaking to references provided by different builders, and most people said they used the general contractors' contracts. What contract have you used if you had an addition built? Thanks so much!

We used the AIA contract. But our architect sort of handled that part so that's the one he recommended. Our builder went bust and the terms are indeed favorable to us but there is nothing to go after so its a moot point.
