Used 3 row vehicle for family with teenagers

Anonymous
We have two HSers and a college student. We still go lots of places as a family and we do family road trips every year, so we need something that is spacious and comfortable enough for 5 full-grown people. I prefer a used vehicle under $30K. Any suggestions?

If you're looking for comfort, minivan. Especially if your kids are tall.

We've on our second sienna. We got the first one in 2011. They are such good vehicles.

No - we have a 2014 Highlander and my teenagers scoff at that 3rd row.

I have an SUV with 3rd row, Honda Pilot. For 5 adult size people though I would do a minivan.

I have fit adults in the third row of my Pilot. Maybe take the kids with you to try it out. You won't have much cargo space, though. I have a friend who got a Suburban because she found the minivan was too small for her family of 5 with all their sports gear. I imagine it would be the same for a road trip.

Highlander’s third row is a joke, and when it’s up you can barely fit grocery bags in the back. Definitely not a vehicle for road trips.

Agree with the minivan posters. More leg room than even a suburban.

Toyota Sequoia. Done.

You must have a minivan. You can’t squeeze a full sized human into a third row. They’re for small kids.

There's a difference between being able to jam adults into a third row when needed and being able to fit adults comfortably into a third row for longer or more frequent trips.

You need a minivan if you want the latter. The third row of a minivan, especially the middle seat, gives you a lot of room and is a lot easier to get in and out of than the third row of a SUV.
