Would you get your car inspected?

Anonymous
I'm in Virginia and my inspection expires this month. Debating what to do. One one hand I'd like to patronize my mechanic in this small way, if he's even open for business. On the other hand, would I have to sanitize the car after he touched anything on the inside? That seems kind of awkward, doing that before I drive away. But then, awkward doesn't seem like a good excuse for anything these days. What would you do? Is car inspection even considered an essential thing to do?

You have until 7/31 I think.

He's not making much money on that.

I did, took 10 min.
I wiped the car down with Lysol after...

No problem. Tech was wearing new rubber relives and a mask.

I know the car was cleaner than ever.

I never wiped down the steering wheel before and I know that when go to the store, 7/11 and touched the door handles, they had viruses, strep, staph that I transferred into my car. Heck could have been hep c

We've been wondering this too. Our second car's safety inspection expired in March. Do we need to get it inspected?

They make very little money off inspections plus the deadline has been extended. Stay home.

I would. I'm leaving mine with the garage overnight tomorrow for an oil change Saturday. I am still driving to work every day and I cannot have any engine problems due to oil.

Yes, by 60 days.

But less risk than getting groceries and I feel that my car being inspected is essential to make sure it is safe to drive.

So, no I will not stay home and I will get my car inspected.

Do they change head to toe after each car? Otherwise how will that help contain spreading? If the first car of the day is contaminated, the tech could infect dozens that day just by getting in and out of cars.

Wear gloves to drive, park car outside in sun for a few days.

All inspections are extended by 60 days. So instead of 31 May I now have until the end of July.

Does it stop when you hit the brakes? Is there tread on the tires? Do the lights work?

This is not rocket science.

+1... at some point, you have to say that if the owner of a car can’t determine on their own if a car is safe to drive or not, they probably shouldn’t be allowed to drive at all.
