anniversary weekend trip: spring, nonstop flight to a warm beach?

Anonymous
trying to figure out where we can get to from DC on a nonstop flight that will be reliably warm in early April. Romantic, not family oriented, as we are hoping to leave DS with grandparents.

Is Bermuda warm enough that time of year? I'm guessing that Florida is marginal.

I had my heart set on St. Martin, but then found out that United only has flights on Saturdays and Sundays.

Nassau is the only nonstop Bahamian island. How hard is it to get to the other islands from there? Really don't want to spend all day getting somewhere when we only have a long weekend to celebrate.

thanks for all your input!

How about Jamaica? Its an easy flight from BWI.

When we went their for our Honeymoon - we flew first class which didn't cost too much more, if I remember correctly.

Paradise Island is connected to Nassau by a bridge, if you'd like to stay at Atlantis.

Also check out the fast ferry to Harbour Island. Very quiet, romantic island. IIRC, the ferry takes about 2 hours.

Puerto Rico. Easy, direct flight and very warm.

Cancun would be nice, just stay at a resort way outside of Cancun. Bermuda is due east of DC... so it would be nice in April, but I don't think it would be very warm. We went to the Bahamas (Naussau) and I would recommend going elsewhere if you can... the town is a bit on the seedy side and the shopping/restaurants are all geared for the cruises that stop there.

Oh, the Washington Post just did a recent article (maybe 2 weeks ago in the Sunday travel section I think) on non-stop flights to the Caribbean and all-inclusive resorts.

PP here... this is the link to the Wash Post article: all-inclusive, adult only, direct flights to places warm:

OP here.

thanks all! Not sure how I missed the WP article, as we get the paper delivered.

I also found the airport authority's list of flights:

I am almost offended that the capital city doesn't have more nonstops. It is sad that no airline has been able to make a hub here. Charlotte and Cleveland have better flights than DCA and IAD.

Again, thank you to everyone!!
