| Or something of the sort? We are getting Teambuilder workouts but they are really pretty boring when done alone. Was wondering if any clubs have tried with an online, visual practice where kids can chat and work out separately but together? Not even sure it would work but thought it might be something to keep their interest going. |

Ours sends challenges--conditioning and training about once per week. They have zoom meeting w. team and coach once in awhile and assign games to watch and answer questions.
My kids attended zoom team meetings, but they do their own training/conditioning. It's a pain trying to watch their videos. I was a little pissed about how out of touch they were the first week or two following school closing when parents were adjusting to working from home, our kids started right up with online schooling (middle school) which took a lot of time---and club was chastising kids for not doing soccer assignments. I really think it's about justifying us paying $1500 each kid for the 2nd half of the year when there will not be training or a season. We are most likely not returning to this Club anyways for logistical reasons, change in schooling next year---so I really don't care. If my kids are playing, whatever they feel like doing on any given day: juggling, shooting, drills with ball and staying conditioned (they do a boot camp with us 3X per week, ride bikes, and run) then I really don't care about the 'prescribed' plan. |
| We have techne + zoom meetings. It's ok. I'd prefer like training sessions that might be more engaging for the kids. |
| How the hell would you do a zoom practice unless you had a movie screen in your yard? |
Not sure. Saw a Zoom Yoga class and had the idea (they all had iPads on stands next to the workout). Figure maybe they could have phones and do the drills (so the coach could watch) then come back for guidance from the phone. Or something. |
| At least our coach is going to try it for the first time this week. He said it would be mostly conditioning stuff. |
Our zoom practices are indoor friendly and really more focused on general training not soccer skills. I had a hdmi to phone adapter to that my DS could mirror his screen to the tv during the zoom practice. Only thing I dont like is its only 30mins (which I think free zoom has a limit) and all they do is play youtube videos for the kids to follow. |
DS coach is doing 2 practices a week via zoom - I prop the phone on a fence and turn the volume all the way up - not sure why anyone would think there is something logistically difficult about that? Now DS is only doing the drills for about 2 minutes before he starts doing his own thing but that is another issue. |
| Ours has recently started something similar (practice guidelines, challenges, zoom meetings, etc.). But I wonder if a big part of this is to keep from having to refund us any money for the year? "Hey, look we were training!" |
most definitely it is to not give refunds. Clubs will claim coaches are engaged etc. I guess zoom practices might be boring or something ours is 2x a week for 30mins each. |
| Our club has been doing 1 hour Zoom practices every day Monday-Friday. There are a lot of technical skills with cones and agility and core/strength work. Obviously, doesn't replace a full practice. But my girls really look forward to it and are definitely tired afterwards so it's a good work out. |
| What a rationalization. You paid all that money and think Zoom meetings are appropriate? Suckers. U could do better on yur own. Betcha wish you had your money back, but too bad, you worship the soccer gods and gotta play the game. Enjoy zoom Zoom meeting ELITE travel soccer. |
| How many of these posts are clearly coming from clubs/coaches? You guys suck. |

My kids play in SYC and they are doing zoom practices/meetings twice per week with their coaches. The club also does Virtual training on Instagram Live.
The first couple of weeks coaches sent out youtube videos of themselves with exercises to do while at home. Now they both have spreadsheets they need to fill out each week with drills and core exercises. My oldest has to record how much he runs every week and my youngest has "homework" to turn in. They're both in the top teams. |
Zoom works like Facetime but 20+ kids can join it at the same time. You could open it on your ipad, iphone or laptop. Kids are doing it on their basement, living room and backyard. |
