do local pharmacies have ovidrel?

Last Wednesday, I ordered my Ovidrel trigger shot refill from a mail order pharmacy (my insurance requires me to order through MedCo pharmacy). They said it would ship the next day. It still hadn't arrived by Monday, so I called Monday morning and asked them to overnight it, which they said they would do. I got home from work tonight and my nanny tells me "MedCo pharmacy called for you this morning, but they said there was no message, just to tell you they called." WTF?!

I go for monitoring tomorrow morning and I assume they are going to tell me to trigger tomorrow night (that's what I did last cycle) and now I don't have my trigger shot! Does anyone know if it's available at most pharmacies? If I need it and MedCo doesn't deliver it tomorrow, I'll have to get it locally (b/c I really need the stress of not having the right meds, on top of everything else).

I don't think all pharmacies will, but there are definitely some specialty pharmacies around. Also, your clinic should have extra meds.

Ambulatory Care in the lobby of the Shady Grove building in Rockville always has it. If you are in VA, Prosperity Pharmacy in Fairfax specializes in fertility meds and should have it.

Thanks - Prosperity is not too far from me.

My u/s this morning showed the follicles are not quite ready so I probably will not have to trigger tonight and should have an extra day or two for the shot to arrive. But still, it seems pretty outrageous that a pharmacy can fail to deliver medications that people need at specific times! Especially since I ordered it a week in advance! Unfortunately I have no option to shop elsewhere if I want my insurance to pay for the meds.

OP, if it you makes feel any better, FedEx lost my meds once (ordered from Freedom) and another time the Post Office took 5 days to deliver 1 part of a 2 part order and 2 weeks to deliver the second part. I think most clinics are equipped to handle this kind of thing, either by having extras in their offices or getting folks to Prosperity or Ambulatory Care. But unfortunately they don't think to tell us that, leaving us to stress unnecessarily.

Prosperity has almost every fertility medicine and gives great service. I wish I could've used them for all my meds!

Thanks! Fortunately I don't need the trigger today, which is a relief since the stupid pharmacy didn't even ship it yet!

When I called today and told them I spoke to someone on Monday who said she was overnighting it, they said "well, she was in the regular pharmacy, not the fertility pharmacy, so you should have talked to someone on the fertility pharmacy team. Someone in the regular pharmacy can't ship your Rx if it's a fertility med." Umm, how am I supposed to know that, when I call the 800 # on my Rx and ask them to overnight my meds and they look it up on the computer and say "ok, we'll send it out today."

I finally talked to someone in the fertility pharmacy this morning and they promised I will have it sometime tomorrow.

It took my pharmacy about 2 days to order it and receive it.

I've gotten Ovidrel three times from the Giant in Bethesda. Once they had to order it, but the other two times they had it in stock.
