Elementary School-Aged Kids
| how do the parents hear about it? a note? it's a public high school- i was talking to my nephew's counselor (i have authority to receive updates) and she told me he was written up for his behavior- this was around 3pm- his guardians did not know this when i called tonight- is the teen supposed to have a note? how does this work? (I have kids under age 5) |
| That sounds like a question for the school -- can you ask the counsellor? Different schools would have different procedures. I'd expect sending a parent an email would be a wise way to go. |
| It's a ffex cty public school- I got this from the social worker while dealing on other issues- my nephew said nothing about the write up (naturally) - but once confronted he confirmed what we heard and said he was just moved to another class (he was accussed of harassing another student).. so why isn't this known to the guardians/parents? |

I don't know, but since no one else is chiming in, I'll take a guess -- the school must have some procedure to inform parents. Either they call, or send a letter. In the olden days, kids would get home before parents and sneak the letter out of the mailbox. Could that have happened?
I had assumed in this day and age schools would email parents, though. |
| When did the write up happen? Maybe the letter is still in the mail? |

We used to get an automated phone call at the end of the day, followed by a letter. Our son would know these were coming and would make sure to be on the phone when the call came, and then delete the message the system left. He intercepted the mail more than a few times as well. Once we figured out what he was doing we changed the contact number the school had to one of our cell phones. After that there was no point in trying to intercept the mail.
Call the school and ask when/how you are to be informed. It could be that they have tried informing you and your son has managed to get in the middle. |
