The University of California announced Wednesday that it will greatly ease some admission requirements for fall 2020 and beyond by eliminating SAT test scores and minimum grades, saying that “grave disruption” to schools during the coronavirus crisis calls for maximum flexibility in evaluating students.

| Yes, this will tell us a lot about many colleges. Listen carefully. It will be telling. |
| Should it be Fall 2021? 2020 Fall admission was already done, right? |
For good or bad, a lot of what we see California do ends up happening later in the rest of the country. |

OMG great news, don’t need to be concerned about that SAT (with Writing)requirement
|
| O.k. they won't be looking at test scores or grades. What the heck will they look at? Activities? Ha! |
They aren’t saying they won’t look at grades at all. They are saying it’s ok if their school does pass/fail for a semester (as some are doing). |
When an Ivy does this call us. |
| How are they going to evaluate applications? Darts and a Dartboard? |
| Maybe they are more desperate for tuition dollars than anyone realizes. So basically if your kid has a pulse and $30k (or whatever tuition is) they will be admitted. |
Easier admissions requirements /= more students in the university. There are only so many seats. |
| Don't believe them. They still will use those metrics, just like all the schools that claim they use a "holistic" method. total BS. Just a way to defend admitting underqualified students of wealthy families or athletes. |
It’s online for the foreseeable future. There could be no cap in enrollment while they are charging full tuition. |
UCLA got around 110,000 applications this year, and Berkeley got over 80,000. In 2019, UCLA's freshman acceptance rate was 12% and Berkeley's was 16%. No, a pulse and $30K will not get anyone in! |
But the schools are already too large |
